After a shutting down the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation bank accounts, a top government official is set to lose his job, EACC has confirmed.

Fazul Mahamed, the chief Executive officer of the NGOs coordination board, who was allegedly hired despite lacking qualifications, faces sacking and consequently be jailed after the EACC’s fresh investigations.

In December last year, the Wafula Chebukati led commission forwarded a report to the DPP, recommending an administrative action against Mahamed over claims that Mr Fazul was not qualified.

Later, however, DPP Keriako Tobiko returned the file to the commission recommending further investigations.

"Investigations revealed that by the time the CEO was being appointed, he did not have a degree certificate which was a basic requirement for the position," the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has said.

This meant that Fazul was not qualified for the position during the time of his appointment.

"It was suspected that it may have been removed from his personal file and concealed. In the absence of the certificate, a prosecution against him could not be sustained," EACC said.

Earlier, in a report last November, the Commission on Administrative Justice recommended Fazul’s immediate sacking and further demanded that he be barred from holding any public office.

The report further indicated that the accused refund Sh8.5 million earned as cumulative salary because he had shamed the government.

Fazul has been in the limelight for “arbitrary shutdown of civil society groups.’

The recent recipient of his altercation has been the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation over the alleged lack of accountability of Ksh146 million. Mr Musyoka has since said the move is politically motivated by deputy president William Ruto.

Earlier, the NGOs coordination board shut down the Kidero Foundation on accusations of lack of accountability.

In mid-2015, however, Professor SFO Owido, Egerton University Registrar of Academic Affairs, confirmed that ‘Mahamed Yusuf', as Fazul was known in college, “was discontinued by the Senate on August 26, 2010 while he was a third year student.”
