ODM Leader Raila Odinga on Thursday broke his silence on the case where Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been charged with the murder of Rongo University Sharon Otieno.

The former Prime Minister told Migori residents that Obado was merely a suspect who should be presumed innocent until proven by a court of law.

He was speaking in Migori where he campaigned for his party's senatorial candidate Ochilo Ayacko ahead of the by-election scheduled for October 8.

Odinga had been pivotal in brokering a "handshake" between Obado and Ayacko who have a history of political rivalry.

Despite the handshake, the Governor was reluctant to endorse Ayacko after he was given the ODM ticket.

Obado has since been away from his county after he was arrested and charged with Sharon's murder.

In his alibi statement, the County boss told the court that he had been in the company of Ida Odinga on the evening Sharon was killed.
