As Jubilee used Nasa’s disregard for Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to intensely affect Raila’s numbers ahead of the August 8 election, it is clear that Mr Odinga and his team are determined to exploit President Kenyatta’s attack on the Chief Justice Maraga to repossess Nyamira County during the October 17 elections.
President Uhuru left many in Kisii region shocked and insulted by his open and uncensored criticism of the Chief Justice David Maranga.
The CJ’s close relatives in the company of many a people, especially from his rural home, Bonyamatutu Village in Nyamira County came out in droves to strongly defend Mr Maranga.
Residents even went onto the streets for three consecutive days to protest against what they defined as serious disrespect from Jubilee leaders after the Supreme Court ruling.
In response, the Nasa team went to the Gusii land in attempt to regain the people’s votes by using CJ Marang’as onslaught to discredit Jubilee.
“We have taken the earliest opportunity to thank you for voting for us and plead with you to continue supporting us. But we are here to tell the President and his team to stop the continued attacks on Maraga,” said Mr Odinga.
Nyamira was the first region the Nasa taskforce visited beyond Niarobi after the Supreme Court’s decision.
Richard Onyoka, who is the former Kitutu Chache South MP, stated that the August election results did not reflect the true position of the people as he declared that they were manufactured. He went on to state that while President Uhuru is campaigning, he should first accord respect to the CJ before the people of Kisii land can respect him.
“Let him respect our son if he is to be respected,” said Mr Onyonka.
The pressure is high for both Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga as they contest for the presidential seat come October 17.
