TNA initials cannot be used by a new political party, Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu has stated.
Cautioning a newly formed party against using the initials associate with President Uhuru Kenyatta's former party, the Registrar clarified that she had assigned TNAP for the Transformation National Alliance Party (TNAP).
In a letter to the new party, Ms Nderitu noted that the party had neglected to add the "P" in an advertisement published in one of the local dailies.
The party’s interim Secretary-General Arnold Maliba assured that the party would comply with the terms in its subsequent correspondences.
The issue of birds on the logo
The party, however, raised an issue with a number of corrections the parties' registrar made on their proposed logo.
"We had submitted other symbols including the image of a flamingo but for reasons beyond our knowledge, the registrar is not keen on us having a bird as a symbol even though other parties have birds as symbols," the secretary-general conveyed.
The party is in the process of recruiting Constituency Coordinators in all the 290 constituencies.
