Matiang'i's brother turns down top government job

Just in

Interior CS Fred Matiangis brother, John Matiangi, has turned down a lucrative job offer to become a commissioner of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

John, who is also the National Treasurer for the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) declined to accept the nomination as the job would have required him to work full time.

He had been nominated by the Central Organisation of Trade Unionists (Cotu) to represent trade unionists at the SRC.

The move comes at a time when the Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion has been struggling to retain his position in the teacher's union after the government stated that he could not hold it currently with his parliamentary seat.
