Orengo tables demands to be met before Raila-Uhuru peace project in implemented

Orengo reveals what should be met before the implementation of Uhuru-Raila peace pact

Senate Minority leader James Orengo has tabled a list of demands to be met before the peace pact between NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta is implemented.

Addressing mourners in Gem during the burial of Justice Joseph Louis demanded that the president should lock out Jubilee hardliners who are likely to scuttle the talks.

“I know both sides have snakes who can bite someone and spoil things, but Jubilee has more dangerous snakes than NASA. There are even draculas inside there. We want the President to maintain the commitment by locking them out of the negotiation room,”Orengo said.

The Siaya Senator called for the termination of court cases against NASA Politicians and Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi for reconciliation to proceed.

Orengo who is a close ally to Odinga also stated that the state must provide compensate families affected following the violence that was witnessed during the prolonged electioneering period.

“The government must compensate families affected by the political violence before we proceed,” Orengo said.

Last week, during a tour of the Lakeside city of Kisumu, NASA leader Raila Odinga disclosed that the pact would see the families who lost their loved ones compensated and cases against opposition politicians and supporters dropped.

However, nothing to that effect has been forthcoming, prompting the Siaya Senator to reiterate the demands.
