The DCI started an investigation after which the DPP charged Joseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche, William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja and Anthony Wafula with forgery-related crimes.
“Your honor, you will notice that the complain was only made at the DCI, there is no OB number number. Let’s come to the truth. This number actually belongs to the President, that’s a fact. I have been called and tongue-lashed on it, but it is a fact!” Ombeta told a Nairobi court.
The lawyer was protesting the prosecution’s request to hold the suspects for ten more days to conclude the investigations.
Ombeta said there was no need for such a probe since the prosecutors and the DCI had enough time to complete investigations before the arrests.
