Eyewitnesses told Punch that the truck with plate number, Ebonyi XD 520 AKL, killed the student at about 7: 50am, at IMSU Junction, not too far from the varsity campus.

According to the reports, the truck which was heading towards the Okigwe – Owerri Expressway, suffered break failure and ran over the student who in panic, had jumped out of the Keke Napep he was traveling in.
The identity of the student is yet to be ascertained.
Confirming the tragic incident, the Ste Police Spokesperson, Andrew Enwerem, said the details were yet to be communicated to him by the traffic unit that evacuated the body of the deceased.

Punch reports that the IMSU Public Relations Officer, Obi Njoku, told a correspondent on the telephone that the identity of the victim remains unknown, as the University is engrossed in the ongoing examinations.
