ODM Mp arrested in the ongoing primaries in Changamwe

Police have arrested Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi after he stormed polling station with his supporters, causing chaos in the ongoing ODM primaries.

Police say voting materials were destroyed during the incident. The MP is being held at Port police station in Mombasa.

According to area police Boss Peter Omanmwa confirmed that arrest of the Changamwe MP who was trying to cause confusion in the ongoing primaries.

Mwinyi is facing off with football administrator Ali Goshi who has declared an interest in the ODM ticket for the MP seat.

The football administrator got the support of Mombasa Kingpin Hassan Joho a thing that has been giving Mwinyi sleepless nights.

Peterson Mitau of Wiper is also going for the same seat in the coming general elections.

Changamwe was tense following the legislator's arrest as rowdy youths attempted to storm the police station.

They were repulsed by anti-riot officers drawn from AP and GSU.

Changamwe MCA Jimmy Odari said Mwinyi was arrested for protesting malpractices in the nomination.

"He claimed that his rival Ally Goshi was being favoured by Joho," Odari said.

Mwinyi raised questions when did not find his name in the party register at Bomu and Bokole.

The same scenario of missing a name of the ballot paper, got the former KTN Journalist Mohammed Ali.

Ali popularly known as Mohajichopevu, said that his name was missing at mlaleo polling station despite being an ODM life member.

Despite the challenges nomination process is on in other places in Mombasa.
