Former FKF President Sam Nyamwea has defended himself against a 10-years ban that was issued to him by the Football Kenya Federation.

On March 29  Nyamweya was slapped with a 10-year ban from any football related activities by the FKF for taking football matters to an ordinary court and fraudulently withdrawing Sh2.5 million form the FKF accounts.

In response to the ban Nyamwea has termed the ban as malicious and FKF cannot suspend him because he is not a member of FKF.

“I might be moving to court to sue FKF for contempt of court as well as character assassination and damages,” said Nyamweya in the Letter.

Nyamweaya added that it took FKF more than a year to convey the information to him and National Executive Committee.

Early Nyamweya had sued FKF for delaying the kick off the SportPesa Premier league that had been delayed with the issue of the number of teams to feature on the league.

“My attention has been drawn to the letter authored to me by the Chief Executive Officer of Football Kenya Federation Mr. Robert Muthomi, purporting to suspend me from all football activities for a period of 10 years,” stated Nyamweya

After a careful perusal of the contents of the correspondence dated March

The ban by FKF triggered Nyamweya to clarify a number of issues at his table.

Nyamweyaretired from football activities in the full glare of the cameras before the whole world and therefore he is not a member of FKF and therefore it is not within the line of NEC to suspend a non-member.

He added that the matter in court is premised to the right to institute legal proceedings against anybody to enshrine in the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

According to Nyameaya It is laughable that FKF can suggest that he withdrew money from their accounts. Saying that he has never done that.

In conclusion, while this attempt is null and void, it is unfortunate that they have reached this decision without giving me the opportunity to be heard which is against the tenets of fair play and natural justice, read the letter.

Trouble started when FKF relegated Mohoroni Youth and Sofapaka to the second tier for failing to comply with club licensing requirements. The two teams have since been reinstated by the Sports Disputes Tribunal.
