Samuel Abisai is the first Kenyan to win the Mega Jackpot which was started in September last year at 100 million.

Abisai won the SportPesa Mega Jackpot that amounted to Sh221 Million in the last week’s jackpot for predicting the outcome of 17 teams.

Speaking after receiving the Cheque from SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri, the young man promised to put up a football academy back at their home in Kakamega County.

“My brother have a dream of owning a football academy and now that we have money, I think the dream is going to come true”, said Abisai.

He added that they love football from way back in history and therefore he will do something that will see the life of other people change in the society.

Being through the hands of sponsors during my time in school, thought a lot in terms of giving back to the society, therefore I will be good that I use the money wisely.

The CEO of SportPesa Ronald Karauri said that he will ensure that Abisai gets a financial advisers who will guide him in terms of expenditure and investments.

“Abidai being our first and biggest Meja JackPot winner I will ensure that the society feels part of his winning. At least he does something to the people so that they feel part and parcel of his struggle in the gaming industry.

Karauri also added that they are yet to know the verdict of their appeal about the 50% tax that the government is looking forward to impose on all gaming sites.

“We understand that the government proposed a 50% tax on all gaming firms but we appealed because the amount is too high for us. If the government kicks of the proposals tax in January 18 many of us will suffer and therefore we don’t want to reach at that point,” said Karauri.

He added that the tax does not affect winners as it is directly imposed on the cross profit of the betting firms.

The consumer said he met his friend with whom they bet and as they were discussing what to do with the millions a call came through,” Sportpesa said.

Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri personally called the winner who was at that time still having a drink with his friend.

“The CEO advised the winner, who was screaming, to end his night out, to which he said, ‘I’m going home right away,'” the statement said.

Since the proposal was made by the government, a number of stakeholders have been appealing to the government to review the heavy tax.
