Former Cameroon international Modeste M'bami has passed on at the age of 40 according to the player's agent.

M'bami passed on on Saturday following a heart attack in the city of <a href="/sports/football/statistics/team?tid=290">Le Havre</a>, where he lived.

The former football star's demise was made public by his agent, Franck Belhassen, who confirmed his death via his social media account.

"My friend former Cameroonian international footballer, former player of PSG and Marseille among others left today, rest in peace Modeste," he posted on Twitter.

The late midfielder started his football career in Douala, Cameroon before he moved to France.

The Yaoundé-born footballer played in France to play for Sedan between 2000 to 2003. He would join giant PSG that summer, where he spent three years with the capital club.

He then joined Spanish side Almería for two seasons (2009-2011) and went on to play for Changchun Yatai (China), Al Ittihad (Saudi Arabia) and Millonarios (Colombia).

M'bami ended his career in 2017 while playing for Le Havre, where he stayed before his death from a heart attack in Normandy at the age of 40.

He was an Olympic champion in 2000 and played 37 times for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

M'bami also played for two of France's biggest teams and rivals, PSG and Marseille.

Premier League side Brentford football club have confirmed that star striker Ivan Toney could be available to face Liverpool later today.

Toney was stretchered off as the Bees defeated West Ham United on boxing day.

The England international opened the scoring in that encounter before he was forced off due to what looked like a serious knee injury.

Toney looked in serious pain as he was taken off at West Ham.

However, it seems the forward will lead his club at home against the Reds from Merseyside when they go head-to-head this evening.

<h3>It is good news - Brentford manager</h3>

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Brentford manager, Thomas Frank gave a positive update on the talented 26-year-old.

According to Frank, Toney could face Jurgen Klopp's side later today as the injury wasn't as serious as first thought.

“It’s good news with Ivan,” the manager said per the official Brentford website.

“It’s not a significant injury. He could potentially be available for tomorrow (today)."

Brentford's return to winning ways against the Hammers in their first game after the World Cup saw them snap a run of five matches without a win.

Toney scored the opener in that game and assisted Joshua Dasilva for the second in an impressive first-half display.

Toney has scored 12 goals and assisted 3 more in just 16 games this season.

The goal saw Toney take his tally to 12 goals and three assists in 16 games for the Bees in the PL this season.

Frank and his Brentford side will be happy to see their talisman take to the pitch against Liverpool as they look to consolidate on the win against West Ham with another positive outing.

“The physios explained the details and I completely forgot! I'm just glad it isn’t serious," the coach added.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes recorded impressive milestones as Manchester United came from behind to defeat Arsenal in a five-goal thriller at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo scored a brace to take his tally to 801 career goals as United defeated Mikel Arteta's Gunners 3-2 in the Premier League on Thursday.

The 36-year-old whose goals were all scored in the second half in the game has now scored 12 goals in 14 starts for Manchester United this season, taking his total goals for the Reds to 130 in two spells.

He scored an incredible 450 of the goals for Spanish giants Real Madrid, while 101 goals were scored for Italian club, Juventus and five goals for his first club, Sporting Lisbon.

Ronaldo is also the top scoring player in international football history with 115 goals scored for his country, Portugal.

The goal was also Ronaldo's first in the league in over a month, with his last goal coming in United's 3-0 victory over Tottenham back on October 30.

But the five-time Ballon d'Or winner wasn't the only who had something to celebrate at Old Trafford on Thursday, neither was he the only scorer for the Red Devils as his compatriot, Bruno Fernandes, kick-started the comeback against Arsenal.

With their new interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, watching from the executive box at the stadium, United started on the worst possible note as a bizarre goal from Emile Smith-Rowe put the visitors ahead with David De Gea inactive and reeling in pains on the pitch.

However, on the occasion of his 100th appearance for the club, Portuguese playmaker, Fernandes celebrated in style as he latched on to a lovely pass from Fred to calmly slot home the equaliser just before halftime.

The goal was Fernandes 79th goal contribution for the club he joined in the winter of 2020 from the Portuguese side, Sporting.

Fernandes, who created the most chances (four) in the game against Arsenal, had this to say after the match;

"(I am) really happy to celebrate my 100th appearance for this club with a win and with our fans," he posted on his social media account. Hopefully, many more games to come."

There was also a message for caretaker manager, Michael Carrick, who resigned moments after the game against Arsenal from Fernandes.

"Also, (I) wanted to say thank you to Michael Carrick, a great Manchester United legend," he added.

He has scored 45 goals and assisted 34 more during his time at the club.

Egypt's Mohamed Salah continues to prove he is one of the best to ever play in the Premier League following another record-breaking outing.

Salah became the third fastest player to contribute 150 goals in the Premier League after he helped Liverpool to a comprehensive 4-0 thrashing of Southampton at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah has been involved in .ore goals (18) than any other player this season in the PL.

Diogo Jota may have scored a brace but it was the 29-year-old who broke a record after he assisted one of his two goals.

Salah set up the Portuguese with a beautiful pass on 32 minutes to double Liverpool's advantage before further goals from Thiago Alcantara and Virgil van Dijk sealed a comfortable afternoon at Anfield for Jurgen Klopp's men.

The assist for Salah was his eighth of the season in the Premier League, taking his goals involvement in the League to 150 (108 goals, 42 assists) in just 171 matches.

He leapfrogged Manchester City legend Ken Aguero to become to third on the list, just behind the legendary duo of Thierry Henry in second and Allan Shearer.

This season, the former Chelsea youngster is the League top scorer on 11 goals from just 13 matches.

He has also been directly involved in 25 goals (17 goals, eight assists) across all competitions this term, more than double any other Premier League player.

Salah and Liverpool are now within a point of league leaders Chelsea, who host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

There is no stopping Salah after reaching another Premier League milestone.
