Carole Baskin is not a fan of the docuseries. We can't say we're surprised. Here's what she said in a <a href="https://bigcatrescue.org/refuting-netflix-tiger-king/" id="c4b6e788-d1e9-37ae-a2c0-03fcd2fbf133"> blog post </a> she published on her website about the Netflix show: "There are not words for how disappointing it is to see that the series...has had the sole goal of being as salacious and sensational as possible to draw viewers." Filmmakers say there was a lack of evidence in Baskin's husband's death. Howard Baskin has spoken out in defense of his wife. It is important to understand that this series is not a documentary; its sensationalized entertainment with paid participants. Tiger King is the bizarre story of Joe and Carole and their feud. These characters are not representative of experts in the wildlife sector or world class facilities like ours here in Myrtle Beach." Netflix

But the G.W. Zoo is still operating. Goode told <a href="https://ew.com/tv/tiger-king-producers-interview-joe-exotic/" id="bc1b201f-1f09-31ee-a478-5a1ae3dfc973"> Entertainment Weekly </a> : "All I can tell you is that he [Jeff Lowe] is basically operating on fumes. No one is going now and there's no source of income, and that's been going on for a long time." And Goode reiterated that Lowe's financial issues were there long before the COVID-19 pandemic began. It's unclear what will happen to the animals. If Goode had to guess, he doesn't think all of the animals will survive.
