This 'slay pastor' caused a stir in Uganda over his opulent lifestyle

Mbonye claimed that he goes to heaven and normally sees Jesus and speaks to him whenever he feels like.

Ugandans were over the weekend left stunned by the lavish lifestyle of one Pastor Elvis Mbonye.

The pastor is well-known for his penchant for splendor and it was no different over the weekend.

On Friday, an audience of over 500 people gathered at the Kololo Independence Grounds to honour the self-proclaimed man of God since it was his birthday.

Considering that the lowest price to attend this function was 300k, this was by all standards a good turn up. Platinum tickets were going for 1million($280) , Gold 750K ($200), Silver 500K ($140) and general happiness 300K ($80).

Ugandans were stunned by photos of Mr. Mbonye being chauffeured to the venue in a sleek Range Rover brand sport car and also seated in a gold-coated chair.

What even irked them further was the fact that he blinded his followers into licking his shoes 'as a way of honoring him.' Among them was famous sports journalist, Joseph Kabuleeta.

They expressed their reservations about the man of God, who is always surrounded by women.

Nuwamanya Mategyero, a social critic, expressed shock that man is submitting before fellow man.

“When Christ came, He came in submission to His father. When Ministers are called, they come in submission to the one who called them and to the preaching of Good News to the poor,” said Nuwamanya.

“But that has changed. A mere man is demanding that the people he is pastoring submit to him and they have gladly done that without question. How tragic! How blind are we to follow the antichrist to destruction?” he wondered.

Wafula Oguttu, an elderly statesman, could not hide his disgust, saying Mbonye thrives on poor people’s sweat: “Collecting from the poor to live in criminal opulence. Shame.”

Mbonye often claims to see visions that predict future events, and has been called both a heretic and false prophet by critics.

Early this year, Mbonye accurately prophesied the winners of the 2017 Oscars. His prophecies have also included UPDF plane crashes, people’s private lives just to mention but a few.

He even claimed that he goes to heaven and normally sees Jesus and speaks to him whenever he feels like.

“I have seen Jesus and walked to Heaven; what most people don’t realize is, they too can. I saw every feature on him and he came smiling at me. Jesus is the most perfect person in human form,” Mbonye said in a TV interview.
