"The debut of the E190-E2 in Nairobi is a landmark moment in our long term successful relationship with Kenya Airways." said Fernando Coimbra.
The Embraer E-Jet E2 family are medium-range jet airliners developed by Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace conglomerate that produces commercial, military, executive and agricultural aircraft and provides aeronautical services.
The company is the third largest producer of civil aircraft, after Airbus and Boeing.
Kenya Airways currently operates 15 Embraer E190-E1s, making the airline the largest E-jet operator in Africa.
"We have used these planes for the past twelve years to boost our fleet and have been very useful in servicing new routes and frequencies in our growing African Network." Jan De Vegt, Chief Operating Officer, Kenya Airways said.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Transport Commission and Pokot South Member of Parliament David Pkosing lauded the partnership between Kenya Airways and Embraer.
"This is not a marriage between Kenya Airways and Embraer but a marriage between Embraer and the Kenyan people." Said Mr. Pkosing.
Meanwhile, Kenya Airways (KQ) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Air Madagascar and Reunion Island-based French carrier Air Austral that will see the three airlines develop a codeshare pact meant to grow their network in Africa.
The partnership will explore possibilities of new connections in Africa and the Indian Ocean island, opening up additional business opportunities for the three airlines.

“Improving access to the Indian Ocean islands is the goal that this agreement seeks to achieve…Our customers will have better access to Mayotte, La Reunion, domestic Madagascar and Kenya as well as other destinations beyond our respective hubs,” said Kenya Airways managing director and chief executive Sebastian Mikosz.
The announcement follows an agreement between KQ and American-based aircraft maker Boeing that will see the local airline access the latter’s global network of spare parts and on-demand services.
After the Kenya Airways – Boeing agreement, KQ became the first airline in Africa to have access to Boeing’s consumable and expandable services, meant to improve its fleet’s reliability and turnaround time.
