Maina a staunch supporter of Manchester United could not hold back his joy after meeting the former Manchester United player who has now moved to Everton.
After taking a photo with Rooney, Maina had this message for him:
“All the best, Wazza.... Thanks for the trophies, goals and great times!!!”
The Wazza moniker was coined by Man United Fans who combined the name Gazza with the first letter from Wayne’s name to form Wazza; an honorable gesture as he was named after the legendary English footballer Paul 'Gazza' Gascoigne.
The two met in Tanzania before the SportPesa-organised Everton vs Gor Mahia friendly match that will be going down at the Tanzania National Stadium in Dar es Salaam tomorrow, 13 July 2017.
Upon seeing Wayne in a SportPesa Jersey Maina could not contain his excitement and enthusiastically wrote :
“Didn't think I'd say this ...but I've never been so proud to see one of my all time favourite football stars, the highest scorer in England wearing a Kenyan brand! Kudos #SportPesa”
