The vagina is a self-cleansing, balanced eco system with fluids and bacteria meant to keep the PH levels at a healthy 4.5. The combination of fluids and bacteria that make up the discharge can at times emit odors usually caused by infections and sometimes, what you eat.
Eating for two: You and your vagina
Just in case you still don't know, you really are what you eat. Here are foods that affect your vagina
I must say that food doesn't directly cause strong vaginal odors, but it can contribute to changes in the vaginal environment and affect the scent of your vaginal secretions. While these changes can be noticeable, they're usually mild and not a cause for concern.
You’ve heard it all before, pineapples and cranberries come in handy for a yummy scent down there. Therefore, the things we eat have adverse effects on your vagina and can change its smell with a day or two of feeding.
Here are a few things you should avoid
1. Red meat
Does this mean that vegetarians have better smelling vaginas? Probably not but eating red meat can make you sweat more and make your sweat smell more down there. “You can smell worse within two hours of eating red meat,”E. Adam Kallel, who holds a Ph.D. in Victrix computational and medicinal chemistry consultancy, told the Huffington Post
2. Caffeine
Coffee and everything with caffeine have very strong scents that are usually excreted using the vagina.
3. Alcohol
This should explain why morning sex after a night drinking just doesn’t feel right. While Alcohol will remove your panties, it will keep them intact when the scents kick in.
4. Sugar
There are a lot of causes for yeast infections such as pregnancy and using anti-biotic medicine. Another major cause is taking too much sugar. The yeast feeds off the sugar and grows more. Reduce your intake to minimal or better yet, nothing at all.
Remember, pre diabetics and diabetics are more prone to this.
5. Spices
News flash: Your lady parts sweat, a lot!
Adding too much spices such as curry and garlic to your food may make the sweat in your crotch stink a bit more than usual.
6. Onions
I bet you wouldn’t kiss a guy with onion breathe so imagine how hard it is to go down on you if it smells like fresh onions?
7. Seafood
Ever heard the question, why does my vagina smell like fish? A fishy odor (pun not intended) is usually an indication that you’ve got an infection but if you’ve been munching on a lot of seafood then cut down and watch your deep oceans clear.
