Avoid these at all costs
Still, even if you’re going for a fashion interview or a ‘creatives’ job interview, there are some trends that you should keep off completely. Not because they’re bad, but simply because you don’t want to make the wrong first impression or send the wrong message. Remember the goal of the interview is to get that job. Sometimes, you may be really qualified, but the way you present yourself – your overall look is the reason why you could fail to get that job. That said, here are trends to stay away from when going for a job interview.
1. Mismatched prints.
It’s stylish to wear mismatched prints. But you might wanna leave that look for an upscale event instead. While mismatched prints are stylish when done right, they may end up looking too busy and that’s not the look you’re going for during an interview.
2. Oversized clothes.
Imagine pulling up to an interview looking like Lady Gaga in the Marc Jacobs suit? Yo, wild! LOL. Seriously, leave that shit for Thrift Social.
3. Statement jewelry.
Isn’t this obvious though? Huge ass earrings or jiggling bracelets should never be worn to an interview. Not only are the distracting, but also make you look like you’re not serious.
4. Wild hairstyles.
Unconventional styles may send the wrong message to your interviewer.
5. Over the top colors like neon and metallic.
These colors can be hard on the eyes and that’s definitely something you want to avoid. Instead, go for neutral colors.
6. Too much makeup.
A facebeat is fine but too much eye shadow for instance is not good for an interview.
