Shower time was a real hustle
I guess all we wanted to do was play and get a BMX bike after we passed an exam. Yeah, there was always that condition lol. But, as we grew older, we realized that we actually miss some of the privileges we had as kids cause adulting is tough. Here are things we hated as kids but now love as adults.
Finishing food was an extreme sport. Especially eating food that you didn’t particularly like, like pumpkin.

2. And, let’s not even get started about eating vegetables…
Yuck. But, now, I can finish a bowl of salad and veggies.
3. Afternoon naps and bedtime.
Back then, sleeping was like a punishment. Now, we wish we could have a few more hours of sleep and naps.
4. Showering and brushing teeth.
Can you even imagine going a day without a bath now?
4. Hair cuts and salon appointments.
Boys hated haircuts so much. Girls used to dread going to the salon as that meant your head being shoved between the hairdresser’s thighs where the air was not so fresh and you had to stay in that position for a couple of hours just to get neat cornrows. Now, we kinda look forward to hair appointments cause? New hair, who dis?
Remember fearing dogs and puppies back then? Now, you have probably gotten over your fear of pets and even have a dog or cat.
6. When your dad changed the channel from something fun to news.
You hated talk shows, documentaries, medical TV dramas and news, but look at you now, curious about what’s going on in the world and you can even binge watch docus on Nat Geo. Funny how life changes huh?
7. Cleaning and making your bed.
Can you even leave your house now without making your bed?
It tasted so bad when you first sneaked in one sip. And, look at you now, drinking like a fish every Friyay.
9. People of the opposite sex.
Back in primary school, boys would make a border on the desk and ask us not to cross that line. Funny, cause now, we actually get dickmatized like a nonsense, so easily.
10. Parents and siblings.
If you never packed your bags, wrote a letter and threatened to leave your home cause you had had enough, did you even grow up in an African home? But now, family is a big part of our lives and we wouldn’t fathom a life without our folks and siblings.
11. Wearing pullovers.
Remember your mother forcing you to wear a boshori and those ugly knit sweaters? Lol. Now, cold weather style is basically bae.
12. Staying at home doing nothing.
Back then, you’d rather be outside eating soil and playing bano, but now, you’d not think of a better adult activity!
13. People thinking you were younger than you are.
But now you grin from ear to ear when people think you’re younger than you really are.
