The previous record was 245, and Kelly and her merry band of ballerinas beat it comfortably. The 306 dancers filled a block outside the ABC studio. More impressively, they all remained en pointe for one full minute. (Peep Kel's serious ballet skills!)
Even more impressive? A rainy morning didn't deter anyonedancers of all ages made the trek to the Upper West Side to participate. Among the notable ballerinas were principal dancers from the American Ballet Theatre, Isabella Boylston and James Whiteside, who helped lead the Guinness World Record attempt with Kelly Ripa. New York City Ballet's principal dancers Tiler Peck, Lauren Lovette, and Maria Kowroski also joined in.
Kelly orchestrated the attempt and shared fun behind the scenes videos to Instagram as she got ready in the morning. The hundreds of dancers waved for the camera, as they awaited their cue. Kelly added on her post: "This job really keeps me on my toes."
Last month, Kelly shared a photo practicing her pointe skills to prep for the big dance. It looks like all her hard work and sore feet were worth it. She stood en pointe alongside the pros and totally held her ownand the tippy-toe pose. Kelly's legs also looked so strong, not one wobble to be seen.
Congrats to all the dancers for a tip-top performance!
