"Congratulations to a team of specialists led by Dr Ekiru Kidalio for performing the first cesearian delivery in Lorugum Sub County Hospital, Loima.

"This is a great result of investment to make specialized Healthcare accessible to Turkana residents in line with attainment of UHC," the governor stated.

Health services inaccessible

Research conducted by the University of Nairobi in 2012 established that women in the Loima area are not likely to deliver at a health facility hence the difficulty in handling complex procedures.

The researchers recommended proper education on danger signs during pregnancy, emphasizing to the community the importance of health facility delivery.
