Bulldozers on Monday descended on structures erected at the site of the former Simmers Club along Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi.

According to preliminary reports, a warrant was issued by the courts on Monday morning sanctioning the flattening of the structures within 14 days.

The Nairobi County government, however, destroyed the structures without clarifying whether the owner of the establishment had been notified.

Sonko makes good on his threat to Patrick Nderitu

The demolition came soon after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko disrupted a similar exercise at City Church and School in Buru Buru Estate.

The governor had threatened that the person behind the demolition at Buru Buru would suffer the same fate at his car wash withing the CBD.

"This guy is a known conman, he is a known thief, a known land grabber…He is called Patrick Nderitu and he called me asking me not to come here [City Church] that he is the one doing the demolition.

"We know him, he's the owner of the car wash at Simmers and he has no approvals for that car wash so in the same way he has demolished this school, his car wash will go down," the governor exclaimed.
