Ferdinand Waititu unveils new Sh9 billion unique fund

The fund dubbed County Ward Development Fund, which will run parallel to the National Government controlled Constituency Development Fund (CDF), will require that the Sh9 billion is distributed across the 60 wards in the county in equally.
Mr Waititu divulged that each of the wards will be getting an estimated Sh30 million per year, and each will have a ward development committee comprising selected representatives in the area who will be managing the kitty.
This means therefore, that the special kitty will be getting Sh1.8 billion per year and for the five years the MCAs will be in office, they will manage Sh9 billion.
The decision by Mr Waititu comes after he announced that his government would abolish the position of ward administrators.
During his campaigns in the run up to the August 8 elections, which he won with over 70 per cent of the votes cast in the vote rich Kiambu County, said that he would introduce a raft of changes in the running of the county, in addition to splashing development plans for the home county of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Recently, the governor revealed his plan to have the Members of the Kiambu County assembly vet vice chancellors of the Kiambu County-based Kenyatta and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, after crying foul of loss of jobs.
