Matiangi Cancels KCSE Results for 10 schools

Matiangi revealed the government has withheld the results of the 10 schools.

Speaking while releasing the 2017 KCSE results on Wednesday at the Nairobi School, Matiangi said the government has decided to withhold the results of the 10 schools until January 18, 2018 after proper investigations have been made into the matter.

"All agents from the Government including the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are investigating the matter including taking statements from teachers from the school. We will make the report public on January 18," Matiangi stated.

A tough talking Matiangi cited several cases from the schools which warranted further investigations.

"We are taking these cases of cheating very seriously. We are securing the lives of our children and these schools will serve as an example to others. I am prepared to take this matter even to parliament," Matiangi declared.

Earlier, the Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia revealed that 40 teachers have been reportedly been involved in exam irregularities in the 2017 KCSE exams including principals.

Speaking at the Nairobi School when the 2017 KCSE results were announced by Education CS Fred Matiangi, Macharia said those teachers implicated will be punished.

"These teachers face de-registration if found to be abetting cheating in exams. There will be sanctions on those who do not follow the stipulated regulations," Macharia warned.

She also declared that school proprietors found employing teachers who have been deregistered by TCS will be taken to court.

While receiving the KCSE results at State House Nairobi, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed Matiang'i to work with Attorney General Githu Muigai to make presentations to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Dr Keriako Tobiko so that cases of cheating involving more than 700 teachers countrywide are expedited.
