The man, later identified as Lang'ata constituency CDF committee member James Kipkorir, was rescued by police officers after crowds begun baying for his blood and snatched Sh200 bills from him.

Angry voters refused to give back the money claiming that he had been sent to buy votes as Kibra constituents geared up to vote in their next member of parliament.

Security was reinforced at the polling station and shortly after Kipkorir was taken away by police officers.

Nairobi police commander Philip Ndolo confirmed that a woman and a man had been taken into custody following the incident.

IEBC official arrested over voter bribery

At the Old Kibra Primary School polling station, an IEBC official was also arrested on voter bribery claims.

The official was handcuffed and led out in a police vehicle as voters at the polling station attempted to harm him.
