Orie Rogo Manduli dies in Nairobi

RIP to the strong woman of many firsts

Former National Council of Non-Governmental Organisations chairperson Orie Rogo Manduli has passed on.

According to reports reaching Pulse Live news desk, Orie Rogo died at her Riverside home, Nairobi on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

The former MP had been suffering from an undisclosed illness for some time now.

She will be remembered for her strong opinions, confidence and style she brought into Kenyan politics.

She loved media attention which helped her advocate for women in leadership.

Orie Rogo Manduli first came to the public limelight while in high school after being crowned Miss Kenya at an early age of 16.

In 1974 she became the very first black African woman in Kenya to compete in the world circuit Safari Rally.

Additionally she is the first woman to head the Kenya Non Governmental Organization council (NGO council).

The former model and rally driver and did what most women would consider taboo and what many men term as too aggressive, coming from a woman.

Ambassador Orie Rogo Manduli also got married at the tender age of 16 years old and at only 19 she was already a divorced mother of three.

The country has lost a very ambitious,brave and hardworking person.
