Gathoni wa Muchomba leads by example, allows husband to bring in second wife

She has called on men to take more than one wife

Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba has now stated that she does not have any problem with her husband bringing in a second wife.

Muchomba spoke days after her campaign to have polygamous families in Central Kenya attracted national attention.

Some of those who contributed to the debate had challenged her to  lead by example and allow her husband to bring in a co-wife.

Questioned on the challenge, the vocal Woman Representative stated that she did not have any objection if her husband was interested in getting a second wife.

She added that she had been brought up in a polygamous family which she described as a long-running culture in parts of Kenya.

Muchomba explained that the call for polygamy was informed by the plight of her constituents who were concerned by the increasing number of children who did not have father figures in their lives.

"As leaders it is our duty to address problems and look for solutions for the people who elected us and when I talk of polygamy I am addressing the issue of people who elected me," the legislator stated.
