The new Inspector General of Police, Hillary Nzioka Mutyambai took the oath of office on Monday and was laster hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.

President Kenyatta congratulated the new IG and advised him to utilize his specialized skill set and to work closely with his officers.
"President Kenyatta congratulated the incoming IG and asked him to use his wide experience and exposure in the security sector to ensure protection of the lives of Kenyans and their property.
"The President urged IG Mutyambai to work closely with his colleagues and members of the National Police Service to deliver on the mandate of the service in line with its motto 'Utumishi kwa Wote', so as to achieve the country's social and economic objectives," a statement from State House conveyed.
The President also witnessed the signing of the Leadership and Integrity Code and the Accountability Pledge by IG Mutyambai.
Outgoing IG Joseph Boinnet also sworn in
Outgoing IG Joseph Boinnet was also sworn in as Tourism CAS during the ceremony.
"President Kenyatta lauded the outgoing Inspector General of Police for serving his term with diligence as well as for taking the National Police Service to a higher level," the official statement read.
