President Uhuru Kenyatta declares Saturday National Prayer Day amid the Coronavirus pandemic

President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared Saturday, 21st March as a National Prayer Day for the country amid the Coronavirus Pandemic that has seen the number of cases rise to four.

The President led by a team of religious leaders will conduct the prayers at State House, Nairobi starting at 12.00 noon on Saturday.

Due to the guidelines the Government put to curb the disease, Kenyans have been asked to observe the day at home, places of work or wherever place they will be.

In a press Statement, Uhuru stated that he and his Government were doing everything possible to keep Kenyans safe and to prevent the spread of the virus but as a country we needed to turn to God to seek for guidance and protection.

"On that day, through our religious leaders, we will be asking God for His forgiveness for anything that we may have done wrong or wronged Him. On that day, we shall together ask for His protection and blessing for our Nation, for our people, for the world and all global citizens. We shall ask God to abide with us, and to guide us, both in this period, and in times to come."

"We acknowledge always that we are nothing without our God. And we have learnt over time that turning to God in such times gives us not only comfort but also hope and strength to overcome even those challenges that for us as humans may seem insurmountable," read part of his statement..

He asked Kenyans to join hands and pray for the pandemic in the country hoping that they will continue to love one another and live in peace and unity.
