Sonko's arrest: videos captures Governor fighting with police officers

Desperate Sonko attempts to fight over 20 police officers

Video captures dramatic moment as Governor Mike Sonko engaged police officers in a fist fight

A video shot by a citizen journalist captured the dramatic arrest of Mike Sonko which saw the Governor become hysterical and even throw punches at over ten police officers who captured him.

EACC detectives arrested Sonko in Voi while he was reportedly escaping arrest. The anti-corruption body is said to have been hunting the Governor since last night but had been unsuccessful.

The Governor was immediately taken to Ikanga Airstrip in Voi where a police chopper was awaiting to airlift him to Nairobi.

A video taken at the airstrip showed Sonko in a hysterical state, desperately throwing punches at the more than ten senior police officers who were holding him.

After hitting one officer, the security officers surround the Governor and appear to have given him a beating to calm him down.

The Governor is quickly handcuffed and forcefully rushed to the chopper.
