Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has threatened to storm into Kasarani Police Station over a woman who is said to be on detention there.
The woman only identified as Njeri wa Muthoni was allegedly arrested after she recorded police officers forcefully removing a passenger from a PSV mini-bus.
The legislator joined a multitude of Kenyans on Twitter who were calling for the release of the allegedly arrested woman calling it a violation of her rights.
"I will mobilize patriots to storm Kasarani police station in solidarity with Njeri if she is not released immediately! Ifikie Fred Matiang'i and Joseph Boinnet," Babu's tweet read.
Video of Police Assault goes Viral
The video that allegedly got Njeri in trouble captured five police officers (three ladies and two gentlemen) in a violent tussle with a woman who was seated at the passenger's seat of the vehicle.
In the video, one of the female officers confronted the lady who was filming them threatening to arrest her.
The woman, believed to be Njeri, dared the officer to do so adding that she wanted to expose the incident deeming it as assault.
The hashtag #ReleaseNjeri trended at number one as calls for her release mounted on Tuesday evening.
