Etim, a resident at Ikota Housing Estate, Lagos, appeared on a charge of defilement.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the accused on May 6 at Ikota Housing Estate, Lagos, defiled the girl by putting his fingers into her private part.
Osayande said the accused, who lives in the same Estate with the parents of the victim, was playing with the girl and later took her to his apartment.
She said that it was when the victim returned home that she began to narrate what the accused did to her in his room.
Osayande said that the offence contravened Section 263, C17, Vol 3 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Nwachukwu said that one of the sureties must be a property owner in Lagos State and should provide evidence of tax payments and their addresses verified.
The case was adjourned until July 6, for hearing.
