Why Gor Mahia FC could be banned from KPL
They went against the rules
AFC Leopards CEO, Mr. Ronald Namai, is asking the Sports tribunal to ban Gor Mahia from what is termed as violation of the law from the transfer business of Vincent Oburu.
"It is clear that Gor Mahia went against the rules by tapping the player. We are therefore going to insist that the federation imposes a very stiff penalty on the club including banning them from player transfers for 2 seasons as has been done elsewhere." Said the statement in part.
However the Kenya Football Federation (FKF) have come to address the whole issue by punishing Vincent Oburu for allegedly double signing.
The federation as acted by de-registering the player from the first leg of the KPL 2017 season. He will however be allowed to be registered in the June window thus he will be available to play for AFC Leopards SC from June 2017.
AFC Leopards CEO, Mr. Ronald Namai, had called for a two seasons ban from transfer business for arch rivals Gor-Mahia for their involvement in the Vincent Oburu Saga.
"Further, we expect such behavior to be penalized under the club licensing regulations. This behavior can only be equated to hooliganism which has to be clamped down heavily." Continues the statement.
According to a statement from AFC Leopards Officials they are seeking Gor Mahia to be punished for violation of transfer laws.
“We are therefore going to insist that the federation imposes a very stiff penalty on the club including banning them from player transfers for 2 seasons as has been done elsewhere ,” said Namai
This will see the rivalry between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards grow big, not just on the Pitch but also in the signing books.
