Athletics Kenya President Lt. Gen (Rtd) Jackson Tuwei has called upon fans to turn up in large numbers in support of a Kenyan team which will take part in the IAAF World U-18 championship set to take place between July 12 and July 16 in Nairobi.

Athletics Kenya picked a 59-member team comprising of boys and girls aged 16 and 17 years at Nyayo National Stadium last week and Tuwei is confident that the team will successfully represent the county in the tournament.

“Kenya has picked the best in this category. We are sure of winning medals not only on the track but also in the field. Our selectors have settled on the greatest that will be flying our national flag even after this World Championships,” he was quoted as saying on Athletics Kenya website.

Ahead of the competition, the team is conducting its training at the high altitude of Ngong Hills, Karura forest and at Nyayo and Kasarani Stadiums.
