Uganda almost overcame the Simbas at the full-packed RFUEA ground but a late penalty try saved Kenya from the disappointment and handed the hosts a 56-51 aggregate victory for the championship.

Speaking to P Live after the match, Duncan explained his dissatisfaction with the first leg results (played on June 10) but accepted the second-leg outcome.

He also identified their weak areas with a view of working on them ahead of future assignments.

“We were disappointed with what happened in Kampala but I think the boys came out and gave a good account to themselves. In the end I don’t think the draw is what the team wanted but going to Senegal with a draw is okay (we’ll take it).”

“We didn’t get one or two goals; that’s what happened and it goes like that but I mean these are learning things and we learn from them and we’ll come be back strongly and better.”

The match also served as the beginning of Africa Gold Cup championship race.
