Dussuyer resigns as Ivory Coast coach

The Frenchman’s decision to resign after 18 months in the job was announced by the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).

Ivory Coast's coach Michel Dussuyer (L) speaks to defender Eric Bailly ahead of the team's Africa Cup of Nations match against Morocco on January 24, 2017

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the reigning champions were knocked out after losing 0-1 to Morocco in their final Group C match on Tuesday.

The Elephants failed to register a win in Gabon, after draws with Togo and DR Congo and the defeat to the Moroccans.

The federation’s statement praised Dussuyer’s “professionalism, commitment and human quality’’.

“The appropriate measures will be put in place to find his successor,’’ it added.
