Sportpesa, Kenya's largest sports gaming firm, has made a comeback in the Kenya market after suspending operations in the Country last year, citing hostile regulations.

In statement shared on Twitter, Sporpesa CEO Ronald Karauri announced that they have gotten a new Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) license.

“SportPesa is back! I’m happy to announce that the SportPesa brand is back under a new BCLB license holder. #SportPesaisBack

We are excited to explore a wide range of partnerships in Kenya over the coming weeks and months, which will prioritize the development of sports in communities across our Great Country!

As market leaders, SportPesa will focus on upholding the highest standards of service and responsible gaming. We look forward to working closely with BCLB and all other stakeholders” reads Ronald Karauri’s Statement.

A cross check done by Pulse Live, indicates, that the SportPesa Website in already up and running.

The giant betting firm, suspended operations in Kenya back in July 2019.

“Greetings! Regretfully, SportPesa has decided to halt operations in Kenya due to the decision by the Kenyan legislature to impose a 20% excise tax on all betting stakes. Thank you for the support,” reads part of the statement at a time SportPesa was exiting the Kenyan market.
