The match will be beamed live from Hull City’s KCOM Stadium across six channels.

The match marks the climax of a three-month journey  that began in November 2016, when, under the invitation of the country’s premier sports betting company, Sportpesa, coaches from Hull travelled to Kenya in November, where they attended a number of both league matches and training sessions, evaluating the quality of talent available.

Scouting mission

The three coaches; Richard Naylor, Kris Blakeston and Terry Boyle travelled throughout Kenya on scouting missions at all SportPesa KPL teams and named 47 players to qualify for a training camp in January.

The two-week camp was held at the Kasarani National Stadium in Nairobi and was delivered by Tigers’ coaches, with the first week under the leadership of Dean Windass and Terry Boyle, followed by Richard O’Donnell and Daniel O’Keeffe in week two.

The best 18 christened Sportpesa All Stars, out of the 47 were finally selected for the East Riding of Yorkshire tour.

Hull City, will also at a later date during the year, travel to Kenya later for a return match.

Window of opportunity

Ronald Karauiri, CEO of SportPesa, said: “We’re committed to helping contribute to sustained growth of sport in Kenyan communities and are pleased to be able to give some of our local players the chance of a lifetime to play against Premier League opposition.

"Our partnership with the Club has opened up a door of opportunity for the SportPesa All Stars to showcase their abilities and get themselves noticed, while earning an experience that nobody can take from them.”

Simon King, Commercial Manager of Hull City Tigers, said: “What we really want to show is that this partnership goes way beyond just a name on a shirt. Together we’re providing opportunities for Kenyan footballers and developing football throughout the nation, with the goal of Kenya reaching the World Cup in the near future.”
