Kenya to host City Challenge basketball tournament

Kenya will host five cities for the 2017 East Africa City Slam basketball tournament between June 11 and June 16 in Nairobi.

According to a statement obtained by P Live from the organizers, the six-day event will be staged at Nyayo Indoor Arena to battle for the Sh1.8million prize money.

Cities set to compete include, Kampala (Uganda), Mogadishu (Somalia), Juba (South Sudan), Kigali (Rwanda), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and hosts Nairobi (Kenya).

“This is to inform you of the upcoming East Africa City Slam Basketball Tournament taking place between the 11th June and 16th June 2017 at Nyayo National Stadium- the Basketball court. The tournament will see city teams from Nairobi, Kampala, Mogadishu, Juba, Kigali and Dar es Salaam battle out for prizes up-to KSH 1.8 million,” the statement read in parts.

Elsewhere, Kenya’s senior women's basketball team have advanced to the Africa Cup Championships after beating Uganda and Ethiopia in the FIBA Africa Zone IV basketball championships in Mombasa’s Makande indoor gymnasium.
