KRU to celebrate International Mother’s Day in style over the weekend

With the International Mother’s day being celebrated on Sunday, the Kenya Ruby Union has lined up a number of matches to commemorate this day and a sure you will love it.

The International Women’s Day was celebrated worldwide on March 8 to commemorate the achievements of women in all spheres including sports.

According to the Rugby Union Officials under the wings of Richard Omwella two tournaments will be going down in Kisumu and Kisii respectively.

On March 25 2017 KRU District 2 will lock horns at Ndiru Mixed Secondary in Kisumu County while on the 26th the action will shift gears to Rianyanchabera in Kisii County.

Ndiru Secondary which is Zone B will host a total of nine schools on Saturday. They are Ndiru Secondary, Barchando Girls, Lwak Girls, Nyakongo Girls, Kisumu Girls, Sinyolo Girls, Ahero Girls, Got Rateng’ Girls and St. Alloys Reru Girls.

Zone A will see Rianyanchabera Grounds host a total of 12 teams on Sunday: Rianyanchabera Secondary who are the defending Champions in Nyanza Region and home to the rising star Janet Kerubo who was last year’s top try scorer in the girl’s high school national competition.

The Kisii action will be going down on the same day when the world will be celebrating International Mother’s day and Ruby Fanatics can use this day to celebrate and honor mother-figure personalities in their life.

The participating teams include the following; Asumbi Girls, Ekerubo Secondary, Nyabigena Girls, Nduru Girls, Senior Chief Musa Nyandusi, St. Ann’s Nyangoge Girls, Kioge Girls, Nyabisawa Girls, St. Albert’s Ulanda Girls, Bishop Okok Ogada Girls and lastly Ikonge Girls.

This is the third tournament of its kind to be held; the first two tournaments were held in Nairobi County in 2015 and 2016.
