Despite the fall in Singapore Shujaa managed to collect 10 points from the HSBC World Rugby Series.

During the start of the quarters Kenya staged an impressive start over England by opening a margin of 7-0.

Sammy Oliech raced well past Oliver Lindsay before bursting through a 90 – meter run to grab the first try and completed it with a successful conversion to make it 7 – 0.

Shujaa’s who have never won against England in the HSBC World Rugby series in the past six years failed to re-write history.

After the fall Shujaa advanced to the playoffs where they faced New Zeland who had been humiliated by Canada.

A last gasp try gave New Zealand a 24-22 win over Kenya Sevens in the second semi-final of the 5th place play offs of the Singapore 7s tournament. Kenya busted out of the blocks, taking a 14-5 lead by the break.

Nippy playmaker Brian Tanga break the deadlock before Derrick Mayar-in his second World 7s tournament-got his maiden try, powering through two defenders to crash over.

Joash Trael try before the break halved the deficit. It was New Zealand who scored first after the break via Lewis Ormold then added another through Waaka Beaudein to finally take the lead.

Towards the end Dennis Ombachi gave Shujaa the respite but would proove shortlived as Lewis Ornold earned his brace after the hooter had sounded.

England will advance to take on Canada who upset New Zealand earlier on while USA, who shocked Fiji will take on Australia, who dumped out series leaders South Africa.

Kenya will be looking forward to redeem their lost glory at the upcoming Paris Sevens.
