Kenya Cup side and leg leaders Menengai Cream Homeboyz has introduced a new cup to honor their deceased player Andrew Wekesa.
The Cup will be called Wekesa Cup in memory of Wekesa who was murdered by suspected thugs in Mlolongo early in 2017.
According to RFC Chairman Myke Rabar the Cup will take place twice per season.
“We are introducing a new cup that will be up for grab twice per season when Homeboyz meets Impala Saracens. This is to honor Wekesa who was one of our players.” Said Rabar.
The Cup was officially launched during the Kings Development Academy launch held in Nairobi on April 23rd in attendance of former Rugby Football Union (RFU) president Jason Leonard.
The 24 year old was killed by unknown people when he had gone to visit a friend in Machakos.

On February 27, four suspects were charged for the murder of Andrew Wekesa who was a key player in the Homeboyz team.
The Judge examined them one by one as to their mental capacity to take plea and stand trial and concluded that they were mentally fit to do so.
Wekesa was to return to the Homeboyz side within a fortnight before he met his death after a brawl that occurred outside a bar in Mlolongo in the outskirts of the Kenyan capital.
“He was in the company of another man when an argument ensued between him and another group. A fight broke out and it spilled into the street,” the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) in Mlolongo, Sharma Wario, said at the time
Wekesa who was a graduate of JKUAT started his career in Rugby with Homeboyz straight from Kakamega High School and managed to play for Kenya Under-19 side. In 2014 Wekesa moved to Impala sirens but later returned to the Deejays in 2015.
Wekesa become the 3 Rugby player to die after Nondscripts Ogeto Gacheo and Mwamba’s Victor Wayodi who died in December.
