AFC Leopards suffer defeat against Kariobangi Sharks
Bigwigs Ingwe failed to beat KPL newcomers Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday.
Goals from Ebrimma Sanneh and Mathew Odongo silenced Ingwe fans and picked three valuable points for Kariobangi Sharks in their round 15 action of the season.
Stand-in coach Tom Juma listed all their new signings in the match (except Alexis Kitenge) with Victor Majid being in the starting lineup as Musa Mude, Ray Omondi, Keziron Kizito and Aziz Okaka sit on the bench.
Vincent Oburu and Marcellus Ingotsi were tasked with goal-hunting mission as Ian Otieno man the goal-posts.
However, Kariobangi Sharks proved stronger on the pitch fighting for an opener from the onset of the match. All in all, AFC Leopards never allowed the William Muluya coached outfit to score in the first half.
It was until the 51st minute when Ellie Asieche picked out Sanneh inside the box for visitors’ first goal.
Coach Juma, having sensed danger, introduced Ray Omondi for Samuel Ndung’u, Keziron Kizito for Whyvonne Isuza and Musa Mudde for Duncan Otieno in a span of 15 minutes with hopes that they could score an equalizer.
The battle continued with Kariobangi Sharks pushing hard to maintain their lead as Ingwe fight for an equalizer and with eight minutes to go, the former doubled their lead by scoring another goal courtesy of Mathew Odongo.
By this time, it was now clear that Karkiobangi Sharks were to emerge the winners; a state which was confirmed by centre referee with ‘full time’ whistle to see AFC Leopards drop to position 13 on the log. Kariobangi Sharks are now placed at position four with 25 points, same as those of Posta Rangers.
