The National Superleague for the year 2019 to 2020 just started on Sunday. The event consists of jam-packed audience filled with sports fans of all ages with ten matches on the cards waiting to ensue.

The Vihiga United was assigned to a lower rank from last NSL season. On Sunday, they are expected to host Migori Youth in Mumias. Recently, there were also ten players added to the team. The Vihiga County Government supports the team’s endeavors by sponsoring all of their matches.

Meanwhile, the Mount Kenya United is experiencing financial difficulties within their club. Being dismissed to a lower rank has inflicted their team. Furthermore, sources said they let go of many team members because they’re not able to handle them any longer.

Francis Mureithi, a politician, has taken over the team from Nakumatt Holdings, its former owner, back in April 2018. But a few months after the acquisition, the struggle started to appear on top of the financial problems. All of these happenings affected the team’s performance. Later on, the trainings are not done on a regular basis which may result in a poor performance from the team.

Additionally, basing from what Stephen Kiama, the club organizing secretary said, they traveled to Nairobi in order to fight the City Stars on a Sh30 million budget for the season. After that, they will host at Muranga Steel within the Gusii Stadium the following weekend before they go to Mombasa and compete with the Modern Coast Rangers. Kiama is fully aware that all the ongoing travels are not possible if they won’t become supported with enough financial help from the sitting government.
