Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards make it to SportPesa Super Cup final

It started with AFC Leopards versus Tanzanian side Yanga before Gor Mahia played against Nakuru AllStars in a later kick-off at Uhuru Stadium.

Ingwe entered into the pitch with a lot of confidence and worked hard in the game to keep their opponents at bay for a barren draw during regulation time. Their goalkeeper Ian Otieno was in his top form and eventually emerged the hero in post-match shootouts when he saved two penalties and scored one to hand AFC Leopards a 4-2 win.

Assistant coach Dennis Kitambi was a happy man and touted Gor Mahia to win their match with the hope of meeting in a Mashemeji derby outside Kenya.

His wish came to pass when the Green Army beat their compatriots Nakuru AllStars 2-0, Meddie Kagere and George Odhiambo being on target.

It was however not a very easy affair for K’Ogalo since AllStars also had their shares in the game.

Gor Mahia will now meet AFC Leopards on Sunday at the same venue to compete for Sh3 million prize money, a trophy and a slot of facing EPL side Everton in July.
