A 34-year old Boda Boda rider is Kenya’s latest millionaire after winning the SportPesa jack pot.

Geoffrey Kipng’etich who hails from Keringet District, Nakuru County, correctly predicted the outcomes of 13 football matches in this week's jackpot games earning him a prize of Sh12.6m.

In addition to the Sh12.6 million, Kipng’etich also won Sh255, 000 from correctly predicting 12 matches in the same jackpot after placing a Sh300 bet.

The elated Kipng’etich said the win was a dream come true having been introduced to SportPesa by his friends two years ago.

Consistent betting

He said that he has been faithfully playing the weekly jackpot since last year.

However, the maximum amount of money he had ever won was Sh600.

Kipng’etich now says he will use the money to pay for the education of his children and buy a plot.

He also said he will give 10 per cent of his winnings to the church as part of the promise he made to God.

“I had gone to church and told God that should I ever win the jackpot I will give him a tenth of the money and now I will have to fulfil my vow,” Kipng’etich said.

Asked what his winning secret was, Kipng'etich said that it was pure guesswork as he was not familiar with the teams.

"I just picked on the teams without knowing, I do not even know which countries they are from," he said.

He confessed that he never tells his wife whenever he places his bets and only told her about his good fortune after receiving the congratulatory text from SportPesa.

Kipng’etich now says he will faithfully continue with his betting and is looking forward to winning the jackpot for a second time soon.

“I cannot wait to go back home today and continue betting,” an ecstatic Kipng’etich said.

Congratulating the winner, SportPesa's Assistant Marketing Manager Esther Kang'ethe asked him to use the funds responsibly to better his future.

"We are always delighted when we put smiles on our clients' faces. SportPesa gaming is real and payments are prompt as our winner can attest," she said.

New jackpot prize

Kipng’etich’s win comes only two weeks after Lessos resident Shadrack Kitur bagged the Sh22.8 million jackpot.

The new mid-week jackpot for correct prediction of 13 matches has opened at Sh10 million and will keep progressing every week until it's won again while the correct prediction of 17 matches will see you win a Mega Jackpot amount that stands at Sh137,386,214 and will keep progressing as well until it is won.
