The 2017 World Championships in Athletics which was staged in London began on August 5 and ended on August 13.

Team Kenya battled to finish second behind United States of America after collecting 11 medals.

Elijah Motonei Manangoi (1500m), Geoffrey Kipkirui Korir(Marathon), Conseslus Kipruto (3000m Steeplechase), Faith Kipyegon (1500m) and Hellen Obiri (5000m) won gold in the respective competitions.

Timothy Cheruiyot and Edna Kiplagat won silver in 1500m and Marathon in that order to add the medal tally to four bronze won by Kipyegon Bett (800m), Paul Tanui (10,000m), Agnes Tirop (10,000m) and Hyvin Jepkemoi (3000m steeplechase).

World champions USA won 30 medals; 10 gold, 11 silver and nine bronze.
