The elimination to Argentina came as a shock to some Nigerians who had high hopes of the team progressing to the round of 16.
The loss was more painful as Nigeria was just five minutes from achieving the aim, until Marcos Rojo volleyed a shot past Francis Uzoho and the Argentines held on for the win.
On Twitter several Nigerians expressed utter disappointment with the outcome of the result, as some blamed the players for not putting their chances away.
