Catherine Kasavuli’s journey in the media industry begun way back in 1980 as a radio continuity announcer thanks to her uncle who was keen to listen to her reading the bible and praying every time.
The Television beauty later joined TV in 1985. Among those who interviewed her is Dorothy Nyong’o who happens to be the wife to the current Kisumu governor, Anyang Nyong’o.

She later joined the prestigious Kenya Institute of Mass Communication after she realized she was green and needed some professional training.
The glamourous news presenter’s most elevated moment is when she coordinated the grand visit of Barack Obama who was then a Senator in the United States.
The most intriguing part is where she was among those who closed Kenyatta Avenue to prepare for the grand entry of Barack Obama.
‘A nut was loose somewhere in a light above and nobody realized. From the top floor, someone was banging, the light was swaying and dangling and there was nothing I could do because I was on air. The light came down and hit my head,’ was Catherine Kasavuli’s most humorous moment on screen.’
Having been a single mother for some time she had to contend with quite a lot. She once had to go with her one year old Martin to work. Luckily Martin cooperated whenever he was told to remain silent since it was a radio studio and normally micro phones are always on when on air.

Her high integrity, discipline and respect is owed to her upbringing. The gifted presenter’s father was a senior civil servant who went to school during the colonial period when indiscipline and disobedience was not condoned. She was born and raised in Kenya’s capital city.
Positive thinking coupled with laughter is what has kept the sweet-voiced anchor young. She loves travelling, reading and above all cooking.
Catherine Kasavuli disclosed ‘Angerican glash’ is what she enjoys cooking most.
After retiring from TV, she founded Kasavuli Media Group Limited which is a parent company of 5 other subsidiary companies. Among them is a finishing school for broad casters that fine tunes anchors and an arm that takes care of etiquette.
