The summit is endorsed by the South African Development Community (SADC), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and East African Community (EAC). It is only the first time in history that world leaders, investors and business executives from these regions meet to discuss inter-state trade.

Kenya is set to host the first Latin America, Caribbean African Business Summit, which is expected to take place at Safari Park Hotel as from November 24, 2016.

Kenya has previously hosted the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), the Fourteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 14), among other high-profile conferences.
In a press release ahead of the two-day event, the LAC Africa Business Summit Secretariat confirmed delegates and investors from Kenya as well as those from Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Peru, West Africa, and tripartite states of East Africa, SADC and COMESA will attend.
“The summit serves as an international platform to create and strengthen trade ties between African, Latin America Caribbean countries, while improving the economies of both continents and tapping into new and unexplored markets,” read the press release in part.

Hundreds of participants are expected at the Nairobi conference to discuss varied sectors of the economy of mutual interest to the two regions, Manufacturing, Infrastructure, Finance, Extractive Industries, Food and Beverage, Agriculture and Agribusiness, and ICT.
According to the LAC Africa Business Secretariat, the Nairobi summit marks a new arrangement where the event will be alternating annually between the Latin America and Africa to ensure mutually beneficial trade and economic growth.
Dr. Manu Chandaria, a respected businessman and manufacturing magnate, Vimal Shah, the CEO of Bidco Oil Refineries, Phyllis Wakiaga of Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), Patrick Obath of Adam Smith International Africa Limited, and Kipronno Kittony, the Chairman of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry, are among the notable local speakers and panelists in the upcoming event.
